Superpam?

it's a bird.. it's a plane.. no! it's.. it's.. pam!
That's how it felt when I rode the zipline one Saturday afternoon. Hung from 100 feet above the ground, with my feet up and face down, I rode like superman while looking down at trees, dirt, and ravine.

Truth be told, it wasn't all that scary. In fact, the anticipation of the ride gave my heart more leaps than the actual 30 second ride. Seeing other people go before you, screaming their lungs out will definitely have its effect on other riders. I thought, what if the cable wouldn't support me? What if I get stuck in the middle of the ride? What if I needed balance and I lose it while I was up there? And worse, what if I fall?? How will they rescue me? How long will I have to stay in the ravines before I get found? Will I break my bones? What about my hair??
Thinking about all these things made me not notice that it was finally my turn. I'm not sure if it helped that the zipline crew were very funny and tried to keep light of everything, while I was being set up in the harness:
me: wait! kuya safe naman to eh diba? (i know, stupid stupid question to ask the staff of the ride)
kuya: yeeeeeess.. safe na safe yan, sige na, ano ba mga huling habilin mo?
me: eeh. may nahulog na ba dito......?
kuya: wala! pero sabi nga nila, "there's always a first time!"
He said "at the count of three, we'll release you! one...." then he released!
That idiot.
It was a funny and entertaining ride altogether. I would do it again, if Ihad a chance. Maybe try that longest zipline ride in CDO or in Cebu? Let's see.

As a post script, let me share that I also tried rappelling from a 60-foot tree. Remember how Tom Cruise did a mission impossible cable drop from the ceiling to hack a CIA computer in the middle of the room? Well, I did that. Only it wasn't to hack anything, and it wasn't not in the middle of a room. I got suspended from a tree 60-feet above the ground with only 2 sturdy cables as my support. I had to balance my body in such way that my face, body, arms and legs were spread wide, facing down.
Then they dropped me.

The 1.5 second drop was insane! If your eyes were opened, you'd actually see the ground where you're headed... fast! This time, I screamed. I screamed like those girls in horror movies. As I said, it was insane!! My knees buckled for a good minute after that ride. My friend was even coaxing me to try it again, but i had to pass. Maybe next time. =)
